Welcome to the Fernfly Blog
We're opening up the Fernfly blog — product updates, deep dives, and the occasional strong opinion about small models.

We're thrilled to launch the Fernfly blog. This is where we'll share product updates (buzz), educational content (insights), engineering deep dives (engineering), and announcements for our webinars and events (events).
Big models get the headlines. Small, fine-tuned, function-calling models get the work done.
Why we're doing this
Fernfly exists to make a single idea practical: you shouldn't need a giant model to turn natural language into reliable tool calls. A tiny model, fine-tuned on your tools, is faster, cheaper, and more predictable.
Here's the short version of what we believe:
- Intent → action beats chat for most product surfaces.
- Small is deployable. You can run it at the edge, behind your CDN.
- Function calling is a contract, and contracts deserve tests.
